Text Box: Tender 1 looks better than ever this year, but rain and weather kept it out of this year’s parades. For next year we are going to have to take all of the indoor electrical cords and lights off and replace them with weatherproof stuff.
This year the tender has between five and six thousand lights, and several new gee wiz features. LED Text Box: lights on the side project color dots on the crowd and a new snow machine sprays the crowd.
All of these new lights and wiz features were purchased by fire department members and families.
Text Box: We mailed 36 packages to Afghanistan, weighing over three hundred pounds. Most of them should reach the unit by Christmas, but since all mail is delivered by helicopter, there are no guarantees. Items sent included:
70 pairs of socks
10 headlamps
9 cases Candy bars
2 dozen large packages of hand wipes.
10 lbs assorted hard candies
5 packages tortillas
2 jars Peanut butter
3 jars Nutella
Dozens of lotions, rinse less shampoo, handwashs
2 pancake mixes and 2 Syrups
Letters from Kennedy School
Tons of Spices and condiments.
To many hot chocolate, tea, coffee and cider packets to Text Box: This year the fire department selected the 3 Plt Legion Company 1-91 CAV of the 173rd Airbourne to receive our care packages. They are stationed in rural Afghanistan and have had long periods of no hot meals, no running water and no electricity, as well as frequent combat, and have suffered the loss of their commander.
Text Box: count.

And much, much more…
Thank you to the friends and family of the firefighters who donated all of the material and the helped pay for shipping: Jason Barragan, JP Perez, Dallas Lane, Doug Williams, Todd Pryor, Barrie Assad, Brown Family, Carlos Rivera and Romance Junkies. Thank you for your continued support!
